Assignment: To create an object inspired by Pre Islamic Persian architecture using high fire clay and glaze.
I decided to make non functional prayer beads for general display.
I was inspired to use Arabic calligraphy in this piece because of all the poetic words used in some persian ornaments. Therefore I used a song by the famous Lebanese singer, Fairuz, called 'Zahret al Madaen', and wrote my favourite verse from that song on the beads, turning them into secular rather than religious beads, conforming with the assignment of using the Pre Islamic style in our work.
